Michelle De Mooy Takes Over Digital Tech Portfolio for Association Representing the magazine Media Industry

Washington, D.C., September 29, 2021MPA – the Association of Magazine Media – today announced that Michelle De Mooy has joined the organization as Senior Director of Policy. Bringing expertise in consumer protection, privacy, digital advertising, digital identity, and data governance, De Mooy will be the chief advocate for the magazine media industry on digital technology and privacy policies at the federal and state levels.

“MPA is excited to welcome Michelle as our new Senior Director of Policy,” said MPA President and Chief Executive Officer Brigitte Schmidt Gwyn. “Michelle’s extensive experience in public policy, consumer affairs, and digital technology will strengthen MPA’s already stellar team.”

De Mooy comes to MPA after managing her own policy consulting firm. Her previous experience includes serving in senior policy positions at the Center for Democracy & Technology and at Consumer Action, as well as work in digital marketing, digital product management, and software engineering.

MPA advocates for public policies that enable the magazine media industry to deliver trusted and valued content to a diverse, multigenerational audience that is more than 1.5 billion strong. Data privacy protection and consumer marketing are among the public policy issues for the industry.

De Mooy will help fill the vacancy left by Emily Emery, who for more than two years served with distinction as MPA’s point person for digital policy.

“MPA is grateful for Emily’s leadership on innovative digital policy development and advocacy on behalf of the magazine media industry,” said Gwyn. “We are excited for her and will miss her ideas, insights, and thoughtful analysis. We wish her all the best.”
