The magazine has found an enthusiastic buyer in a Los Angeles–based private equity firm: "For 27 years, we’ve expanded Sunset’s influence and reach as the defining lifestyle brand of the modern American West serving an audience of 6.5 million across platforms. Now, under the new ownership team led by Michael Reinstein, Sunset will have the opportunity to reach new heights,” said Time Inc. chief executive officer Rich Battista.
W Magazine Positions Itself as a Luxury Collectible
“If we believe in magazines, we have to change and adapt to the new world. In the new world, magazines have to be a beautiful product that you want to collect. If we call a magazine a luxury product, it should look like a luxury product,” editor in chief Stefano Tonchi. The magazine will increase its newsstand price to $9.99 and decrease frequency.
