Happy Birthday! 160 Years Later, The Atlantic's Still Going Strong, Republishes "Where Will It End?"
In commemoration of its 160th anniversary -- its first issue was published November 1, 1857 -- The Atlantic is kicking off a series of special projects, including republishing landmark articles that first appeared in the venerable magazine. The first in the series, republished today, is abolitionist Edmund Quincy’s essay “Where Will It End?,” which ran in the magazine’s second issue, urging Northerners to take a stand against slavery.

Glossy magazine publisher Condé Nast has hired consumer marketers from such consumer companies as Expedia, Barclaycard and eBay. In addition, the company has hired data scientists, borrowed payment technology tactics from e-commerce companies and today compares itself to digital subscription companies rather than other publishing companies.
2017 Folio: Eddie & Ozzie Awards Winners and Honorable Mentions
A panel of more than 300 judges narrowed more than 2,500 entries into a pool of roughly 800 finalists. In total, 262 awards were given out across 33 categories. The awards are broken into four main categories: Eddies and Eddies Digital for the best in print and digital editorial, and Ozzies and Ozzies Digital for the best in magazine and website design.

“The MPA’s IMAG community prides itself on sharing and learning from one another,” said Andy Clurman, President and CEO of Active Interest Media and Chair of the IMAG Financial Benchmarking Study. “As a board, we thought a benchmarking study would be the ideal way to provide member companies with key metrics to better understand how their performance compares to similar companies.” The survey was conducted in the last quarter of 2016 by Mazars USA, a global accounting firm. Only open to members of the IMAG community, participants received two sets of detailed results: one for all respondents and one broken down by revenue tier.
