Forbes Touts Centennial Magazine Issue
Sara Guaglione reports "Forbes today unveiled its special centennial issue, with essays, lessons and ideas from a round-up of the "100 greatest living business minds," as well as an artificial intelligence cover featuring famous businessman Warren Buffett. “Shepherding a brand like Forbes that’s iconic for entrepreneurial capitalism, we thought it important to both salute the last century and look toward the next one,” stated Forbes magazine editor Randall Lane."

In what it dubbed the “First-Ever A.I. Magazine Cover,” the business publication got the 87-year-old Oracle of Omaha to provide 30 unique answers to common questions, like “What’s your favorite investment?” and “Who do you consider your mentor?” Readers can use their smartphones to get responses.

“On the different cover images, we had shot multiple Halloween covers that we liked, so decided to test a different version in Walmart. Walmart has calendar themes they like to promote, like Halloween and Game Time, so we thought the more playful/brighter image might fit in better with that in-store theme. And we tried a few cover lines that were more aligned with Walmart’s emphasis on everyday value and ease. It will be a couple months before we have results back; it will be interesting to see if the cover experimentation moves the needle on sales in that venue!” Family Circle’s editor in chief, Cheryl E. Facebook Gives, but Continues to Take More from Publishers
For all the steps Facebook has taken to support publishers, two new reports offer a stark reminder of who’s really in charge. Parse.ly data shows that across its 2,500-site network, Facebook declined as a source of referral traffic to publishers, with Google surpassing the social network to become the biggest referrer. Social analytics firm BuzzSumo, meanwhile, reported that Facebook engagement across 880 million posts from publishers and brands fell 20 percent since January.

“The MPA’s IMAG community prides itself on sharing and learning from one another,” said Andy Clurman, President and CEO of Active Interest Media and Chair of the IMAG Financial Benchmarking Study. “As a board, we thought a benchmarking study would be the ideal way to provide member companies with key metrics to better understand how their performance compares to similar companies.” The survey was conducted in the last quarter of 2016 by Mazars USA, a global accounting firm. Only open to members of the IMAG community, participants received two sets of detailed results: one for all respondents and one broken down by revenue tier.
