Commenting on the Magazine Media 360° Social Media Report, Mary G. National Geographic Is King of Magazines in Social Media Ranking
Keith Kelly writes "The 127-year-old magazine has more than 67 million followers and likes on Facebook and similar sites — nearly 20 million more than No. 2 ranked sports magazine ESPN, with 40.3 million, a new survey shows. Time came in third at 22.9 million."
Magazine Media Industry Releases Social Media Report
In terms of absolute growth, magazines added 10.3 million new Twitter followers, but in terms of absolute size, Facebook continued to dominate across all social media platforms. Instagram had the highest rate of growth in followers for magazine media brands at 18 percent with The Economist, Recoil and Bloomberg Businessweek showing the largest percentage growth for the quarter.

Indeed, the rules are meant to apply broadly across print, web and mobile sites, apps, social media and even events, according to Sid Holt, CEO ASME. Ultimately, they boil down to one overarching theme, the same as the old guidelienes: Don't deceive the reader.
