New Measure of Magazine Media Vitality, Launched in September, Captures Consumer Demand for Print, Digital and Mobile Platforms – A First for Any Industry
Magazine media audiences were up 9.3% for the month of December 2014 versus the previous December, according to The Magazine Media 360° Brand Audience Report, released today by MPA‐The Association of Magazine Media. This new report, which uses data from leading third‐party providers, reveals a gross audience for magazine brands of 1.6 billion in December 2014 versus 1.45 billion in December 2013. The strong December performance was, once again, propelled by video and mobile web consumption, up 41.8% and 76.8%, respectively, over the same time period in 2013. Print+digital editions and web (desktop/laptop) remained essentially flat. Commenting on the data, Mary G. Berner, President and CEO, MPA‐The Association of Magazine Media said, “Having launched The Magazine Media 360° Brand Audience Report with August figures, we now have nearly half a year of data, with indisputable evidence that magazine media’s consumer demand continues to grow..."
GQ Starting a Music Section That's Not for Nerds
"This is not a channel for music nerds," said Howard Mittman, GQ's VP-publisher. The section is currently live on GQ.com, but is not teased from the magazine's homepage. Mr. Mittman said its rollout will be gradual as GQ prepares for a redesign of its site scheduled for later this year.
