MPA Files Comments on House Postal Discussion Draft – June 29, 2016
Today, MPA filed comments on a “Bipartisan Discussion Draft” of postal reform legislation released by House Oversight and Government Reform (OGR) Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), Ranking Democrat Elijah Cummings (D-MD), and Representatives Mark Meadows (R-NC), Gerry Connolly (D-VA) and Stephen Lynch (D-MA) on June 15. The comments, which can be read here, outline MPA’s opposition to a number of the Draft’s provisions, while offering constructive suggestions to the members of the Committee on what could be improved. Chairman Chaffetz has expressed an interest in introducing the Discussion Draft as a formal bill, and passing the bill through the Committee, before Congress adjourns July 15 for the National Conventions. Vigorously fighting for affordable postage rates remains a major long-term priority for MPA, and we will continue to stay actively engaged on this issue as it develops.
