MPA ANNOUNCES THE REVIVAL OF THE KELLY AWARDS HONORING CREATIVE ADVERTISING

 on February 8, 2017

NEW YORK, NY – November 17, 2016 – After a six-year hiatus, MPA – The Association of Magazine Media is bringing back the esteemed Kelly Awards to honor the creative spirit of excellence and innovation in the art of advertising in magazine media.  The Kelly Awards are given to agency creative teams, advertising clients and magazine media publishers whose campaigns demonstrate both creative excellence and effectiveness in meeting campaign objectives.

“Magazine media continues to produce some of the most original, compelling, effective and beautiful advertising,” said Linda Thomas Brooks, president and CEO of MPA—The Association of Magazine Media. “What has been missing recently is the recognition and celebration of these creative achievements.”

The revived Kelly Awards will honor outstanding achievements in three categories: Best Print Magazine Creative, Best Magazine Media Creative/Campaign and Best Custom Magazine Media Program. To qualify, at least one ad of the campaign must have appeared in a 2016 print issue of an MPA-member magazine. Agency creative teams, advertising clients and magazine media publishers are all encouraged to submit their best work on advertising creative, multi-platform campaigns, and custom programs that effectively meet strategic objectives in a creative manner.

The MPA Kelly Awards were established in 1980 by the MPA to honor Stephen E. Kelly, a man who devoted his career to magazine publishing.  As a former president of the MPA, Mr. Kelly promoted the concept that creative magazine advertising made the difference in sales results—a concept that became the guiding principle for the MPA Kelly Awards.

A panel of judges composed of top agency creative directors and marketing executives will review entries in their areas of expertise and judge finalists on the goals, elements and impact of the advertisement or advertising campaign.
