The Magazine Editors' Hall of Fame was established in 1995 to recognize career-long achievement and excellence of a select group of magazine editors. In addition to being at the pinnacle of his/her career, the recipient should also have a record of "giving back" to the magazine industry as a whole, either through industry associations or other voluntary and cooperative forms of service.
The 2009 Magazine Lifetime Achievement Awards will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at New York City's Plaza Hotel (Fifth Avenue at Central Park South) in the newly-renovated Grand Ballroom.
The Lifetime Achievement Awards were created in January 2003, when MPA and ASME combined their respective lifetime achievement awards – the Henry Johnson Fisher Award (established in 1964) and the Magazine Editors’ Hall of Fame (established in 1995). The individual awards are presented at a luncheon in January each year.
