Adam Gerber, Chief Marketing Officer, Quantcast, explains how this Internet rating service is providing an alternative way to measure Web traffic using census-level, direct measurement rather than data projected from a sample of the Web universe. Quantcast asks website publishers to place tags (i.e. small pieces of code) on their pages. Using these tags, Quantcast can record pretty much everything that happens on a site, from which pages are visited and which videos are watched, to which ads are delivered. Quantcast is able to extrapolate the demographics of a site’s users.
