Ellen Oppenheim
Executive Vice President/Chief Marketing Officer

Ellen Oppenheim is Executive Vice President/Chief Marketing Officer for Magazine Publishers of America (MPA), the industry association for consumer magazines.  She joined MPA in 2001 and is responsible for the associations advertising and marketing efforts, as well as advising the consumer magazine industry on advertising effectiveness and accountability.  Ms. Oppenheim reports to Nina Link, President & CEO, MPA.

 

Previously, Ms. Oppenheim was Senior Vice President, Media Director for Foote, Cone & Belding, New York, which she joined in December 1990.  At FCB, she oversaw the exponential growth of its New York media group, won several media-only assignments and industry awards, and started FCBs Direct Media department.

 

Prior to FCB, Ms. Oppenheim was Managing Director for the Custom Media Group of American Express Publishing Corporation, where she marketed and sold innovative magazine and database marketing packages.  Before that, she was the Worldwide Promotion Director and U.S. Marketing Director of Time Magazine.  There, she played a major role in successfully re-establishing Time as the leading weekly news magazine.

 

Earlier in her career, Ms. Oppenheim was a Media Research Analyst at Young & Rubicam.  She then moved into Media Planning, where she transcended the traditional role, taking on leadership assignments including overseeing personnel development of the 125-person Planning Department, coordinating international media and heading the task force that created Y&Rs Print Services Group.

 

Ms. Oppenheim takes part in a variety of industry associations and events, at which she frequently participates as a guest speaker.  In 1999, she was elected to the Academy of Women Achievers of the YWCA.

 

Ms. Oppenheim resides in New York City with her husband and two children.  She is involved in a number of industry and community service activities, including Advertising Women of New York and Columbia Presbyterian Hospitals Babies Heart Fund.
